AED Tips : How to Use an AED in Under 60 Seconds
An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) can restore a heart's rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest. Here's how to use one quickly and confidently:
Turn it on. Most AEDs have a power button or open automatically.
Follow the prompts. The device talks to you.
Expose the chest and apply the pads. Use the diagrams for correct placement.
Stand clear. Let the AED analyze the heart rhythm.
Deliver the shock if advised. Ensure no one is touching the victim.
⚠️ You can't hurt someone with an AED. If in doubt, use it.
